AMI Helps Chicago's 2016 Commitment of a Blue-Green Games:
Beginning at Chicago O'Hare, AMI along with Waste Management, Rolls Out The Green Carpet for the International Olympic Committee.
In honor of an exciting month of activities in Chicago, Waste Management rolled out a recyclable green carpet to welcome air travelers as well as the International Olympic Committee into the windy city. This welcome area lined with trees and plants courtesy of Waste Management serves as the company's commitment to support the City of Chicago in its economic and green initiatives.
Highlights of Chicago's Blue-Green Games Concept:
- 100% protection of Lake Michigan waters during construction and Games operations.
- 100% of electricity supplied for the Games will come from renewable resources.
- 100% of Chicago organizing committee vehicles will run on low-carbon fuels or electricity.
- 100% low-carbon fuels will be used in generators for Games operations.
- 85% of waste associated with Games operations will be diverted from landfills.
- Water use will be reduced by 20% at both competition venues and the Olympic Village.
- Increased access to clean water and sport facilities for youth in developing regions.
